Summary
This exceptional cycling challenge begins in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro before heading west through the heartland of the Maasai people. Over five days of cycling, participants will cover approximately 345 kilometers on a mixture of tarmac and dirt roads, with terrain varying from gentle descents to flat savannah.
The route takes riders through traditional villages and past some of East Africa's most celebrated wildlife sanctuaries. Highlights include an authentic overnight stay in a Maasai village, cycling alongside the Great Rift Valley, and finishing at the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater. The journey concludes with an optional safari day, offering the chance to witness Africa's spectacular wildlife up close.
The challenge combines moderate cycling distances with immersive cultural experiences and wildlife viewing opportunities. Accommodation varies from comfortable hotels to camping under African skies, with full vehicle support throughout the journey.

Day by Day Itinerary
UK – Tanzania
Depart from the UK on an overnight flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport, gateway to northern Tanzania’s safari circuit. (Meals in-flight)
Touch down at Kilimanjaro Airport with views of Africa’s highest peak dominating the landscape. Transfer to the peaceful Kilemakyaro Mountain Lodge, nestled on the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro. Afternoon dedicated to professional bike fitting and setup by our expert cycle mechanics, ensuring your equipment is perfectly adjusted for the adventure ahead. Evening briefing about the upcoming challenge, followed by dinner overlooking the mountain landscapes.

Once you’ve signed up, we’ll send you a link to a private Facebook group for everyone registered. Please use this space to swap questions, advice and updates with your fellow cyclists on your training and fundraising for our charities.
You may also want to reach out to your fellow participants in this group to see if there’s anyone in your local area you can meet up to train with.
Team TUF will have a mix of first time riders, and seasoned Tuffers who are all their together with the same purpose, to finish the challenge as a group.
