This challenging cycling adventure showcases Ethiopia's remarkable landscapes and cultural diversity. Beginning in Addis Ababa, Africa's diplomatic capital sitting at 2,355 meters, the route takes you through fertile highlands, down to the lakes of the Great Rift Valley. 

Over six days of cycling, you'll cover approximately 465 kilometers on varied terrain, with elevation gains totaling over 2,750 meters and exhilarating descents of more than 4,700 meters. The route offers a perfect mix of challenging mountain biking and cultural immersion, passing through traditional villages, coffee plantations, and diverse ecosystems. 

Accommodation ranges from comfortable hotels to scenic lodges, with highlights including relaxing hot springs and the beautiful lakeside Haile Resort, owned by Ethiopia's legendary Olympic champion. The challenging routes, dramatic elevation changes, and cultural experiences make this a truly unique mountain biking adventure in a country rarely experienced by two wheels.

Day by Day Itinerary

Arrival in Addis Ababa

Arrive in Addis Ababa, Africa’s diplomatic capital and one of the highest capitals in the world at 2,355 meters above sea level. After checking into your comfortable 4-star hotel, you have the option to adjust to the altitude or join a city tour exploring Ethiopia’s historical and cultural landmarks. Visit the National Museum, home to “Lucy,” the 3.2 million-year-old hominid fossil, or explore the vibrant Mercato, Africa’s largest open-air market. Evening welcome briefing and dinner to meet your fellow cyclists and local guides.
