Walk the Night 2019 brings hundreds of people from across the UK together against cancer and the wonderful Charlotte Jones, who completed our 2018 challenge is back with her dad to conquer the challenge again. Here, she tells us why she's Walking the Night for a second year.
"Last year, I completed Walk the Night with my dad. As soon as I found out that this 2019 event would be in aid of CoppaFeel! I messaged my dad and we signed up to complete it together again.
One thing that both my dad and I took from completing the walk was how much closer it had bought us and that it was such a special event to complete together.
CoppaFeel! has been a huge part of my life over the past five years, with my journey starting when I joined the Uni Boob Team at Plymouth University. Together with the team leader, I volunteered and helped organise a few events. I then took on the role of team leader in my final year at university. During my time as Team Leader, we raised over £2,000 and a lot of awareness on the university campus.
After I graduated, I applied to be a Boobette and I have not looked back since. I now travel around the South West, educating young people on the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and continue to fundraise and participate in events. I was even lucky enough to join CoppaFeel! on their trek to Transylvania last year. Through the charity, I have met some inspiring and awesome people, who have now become good friends!
Walk the Night was an incredible experience and I would encourage as many of you to join, meet new people, hear their stories for participating and be part of something amazing for a charity that has helped educate so many people."
