Trek ethiopia: simien mountains

Trek Ethiopia: Simien Mountains

Summary

This is Ethiopia as few ever experience it, on foot, through mountain trails carved by centuries of history and inhabited by rare wildlife and resilient communities.

The journey begins in Addis Ababa with a deep dive into the country’s cultural treasures before heading north to the castles of Gondar and onward to the Simien Mountains.

Trekking starts in earnest from Debark, leading us across escarpments and river valleys, through giant Lobelia forests and high-altitude passes, to the foot of Ras Dashen. The summit attempt is tough but unforgettable, with vast panoramas stretching to Eritrea on a clear day.

We camp on trekking nights, returning each night to the warmth of our crew, before concluding with a final celebration in Addis.

Rated 4/5 for difficulty, this challenge is ideal for adventurous souls eager to explore Ethiopia’s raw and beautiful highlands. Some training is needed in the lead up to the challenge but its suitable for everyone who likes to trek!
