Women V Cancer Charity Feature: Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust

Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust is an absolutely invaluable charity supporting thousands of women affected by cervical cancer with the simple mission to make the disease history. They, together with Breast Cancer Now and Ovarian Cancer Action form Women V Cancer, which first started in 2010 and has since supported countless women across the UK through numerous women-only cycling challenges, including Ride the Night, Cycle India, Cycle Milan to Venice and more. Here, Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust tells us a bit more about their amazing work and how they use the funds raised for them through the Women V Cancer challenges.

Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to women affected by cervical cancer and abnormalities.

Debbie: “I phoned your help line and spoke about my smear results and the HPV virus. I felt considerably less worried after the call. With all the confusing information about, I feel lucky to have access to such a good resource. Your webpages are also incredibly helpful at dispelling myths surrounding HPV.”

We want to see cervical cancer become a disease of the past with no more mothers, sisters, daughters, partners and friends losing their lives to the disease. Until then, we want every woman affected by cervical cancer and cervical abnormalities to get the best possible care and support.

Let's Meet attendee: “It’s great to meet other people in the same situation and know that what you’re feeling isn’t weird or abnormal but something others have experienced."
Find out more about Let's Meet here.

We provide information and support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and through our campaigns and education programmes, are working to decrease the numbers affected by the disease.

Thanks to the incredible support of the women who take on Ride the Night every year, along with the other Women V Cancer challenges, we are working harder, shouting louder and reaching further than ever before! So thank you from everyone at Jo’s, we think each and every one of you is incredible.

Here’s how your sponsorship helps:

£21 could fund a call to our Helpline, providing a lifeline to someone anxiously waiting for treatment for cervical abnormalities.

£107 could provide a women living with cervical cancer access to a local Mini Meet, which provides her with information, support and the opportunity to meet others going through the same thing.
Find out more about Mini Meet here.

£500 could recruit and train another volunteer to operate our helpline, helping us to be there for everyone who needs us.

Lisa was diagnosed with cervical cancer:

“I want to thank you with all my heart for the wonderful service you have provided me during the last six weeks. Having your telephone service has been extremely valuable for me, both after my treatment and while waiting for my results.             The call back service to check how I was showed the upmost amount of human care and kindness.
After being diagnosed in October 2015, your website has been a constant source of support. I have made some good friends via the Mini Meet events and through the online forum. Thank you for all the work that you do.”
