Messages from three of our Walk the Night 2018 heroes

Walking a marathon through London at night is no small feat, but over a thousand men and women have already committed to this epic challenge to support the incredible charities Breast Cancer Care and Prostate Cancer UK. Here are a few messages from some of our super inspiring Walk the Night 2018 heroes explaining why they've joined the cause.

Kate Henwood

I’m doing Walk the Night with my team “Kate’s Angels”.

We were formed in 2015 when I was diagnosed with de novo metastatic inflammatory breast cancer.

I went through chemo, radiotherapy and surgery as a single parent, having lost my husband to oesophageal cancer in 2012 when my son was 10.

I couldn’t have done it without my team.

Throughout this time, I’ve fundraisers for cancer charities and our local hospice. I also blog for Breast Cancer Care.

My team varies from 2 to 30 people who are always up for a challenge and I love them all!

Julie Williams

Hi my husband and I are walking in memory of my dad who lost is battle to prostate cancer last July, almost a year to the night we are walking. I also think it’s so important to raise awareness of prostate cancer and how important it is for men to get checked!

Jennifer Aston

I was diagnosed with breast cancer stage 3 at the end of August 2017.

I started chemo in October and had surgery in March and I'm now waiting to start radiotherapy.

I read about Walk the Night after just starting my chemo. I needed something to aim for and keep me positive. Myself and a friend will be walking. We both help with a prostate cancer charity, so both charities are very important to us.

What is Walk the Night?

Walk the Night is our first event to bring men and women together to walk through London in support of Prostate Cancer UK and Breast Cancer Care. Whether you're a fitness enthusiast, or whether your idea of a work-out is stretching your stomach with another cookie, Walk the Night is open to all.  

Achievable by anyone with a reasonable amount of training, this 26.2 mile or 13.1 mile marathon around London is a fab way to get in shape, testing spirit and stamina, while making amazing new friendships and supporting an invaluable cause.

Walk the Night takes you on a circular route through London, starting and finishing at Granary Square near the iconic King's Cross station. The route will take you past many famous landmarks, including Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace and many more!
