Living with cancer is possible: A story from CoppaFeel!

2019 marks ten years since breast cancer charity, CoppaFeel! started their mission to educate the nation on the importance of checking their boobs and pecs regularly - and this is why this amazing charity has joined Walk the Night! Here, we share the story of how CoppaFeel! was founded.

Our Walk the Night breast cancer charity, CoppaFeel! which aims to make people aware of the signs and symptoms of the disease, was founded in 2009 by Kristin Hallenga, after she was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer at twenty-three years old.

Ten years since her diagnosis, Kris continues to show living with cancer is possible. Although her diagnosis meant she would never be free of cancer, she wanted to get the message out there to others that catching cancer early means you have a higher chance of surviving and recovering. Kris explains, "What happened to me couldn't really be changed, but I started CoppaFeel! to ensure others didn’t find themselves in my situation because they were unaware of breast cancer or the importance of self-checking."

To mark this special year, CoppaFeel! have teamed up with Prostate Cancer UK and Dream Challenges for Walk the Night 2019. Our incredible charity event brings hundreds of people together against breast and prostate cancer, to raise vital awareness and funds for these two charities and helping to save countless lives affected by breast and prostate cancers. Please join us Together Against Cancer on 27 July and help make CoppaFeel!'s ten-year anniversary magical!

What is Walk the Night?

This epic night walk is the only event to bring men and women together in exclusive support of Prostate Cancer UK and our amazing new cancer charity partner, CoppaFeel!

We challenge you to walk a marathon (26.2 miles) or a half marathon (13.1 miles) through the night. Starting and finishing at the magical Granary Square in King’s Cross, the route will take you past many of our capital’s famous landmarks, including Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace and many more!
