Challenge yourself to cycle from London to Amsterdam in two epic days on this iconic bike ride for Regain, supported by the amazing Cavendish Brooke.
Kicking off in Stratford, home of the famous Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, we'll spend our first day cycling over 100km through the English suburbs and countryside to Harwich.
An overnight ferry later, our fast-paced adventure will continue in the cyclists’ haven of the Netherlands. We'll cycle along the North Sea coastline with incredible views across sea. Then, we’ll head inland through traditional Dutch towns and countryside to our amazing finish line in Amsterdam!
Here, we'll toast our achievement for sports tetraplegics and tuck into a very well-deserved Celebration Dinner. We’ll spend the night in an Amsterdam hotel and have the morning free to explore the historic and cultural landmarks of the city.
Where your funds go
The funds you raise on this phenomenal charity challenge will go a very long way to support Regain, the only charity dedicated to improving the lives of people who have become tetraplegic in a sporting accident.
Having lost the use of their limbs, tetraplegics need support and equipment to perform day-to-day tasks and taking part in sport becomes impossible. Their tetraplegia can also have a huge impact on their mental health.
Regain provides grants for these people so they can access the support and equipment they need to live independently, from emotional support to adapted vehicles to specialist equipment they need to keep working.
To our tetraplegic challengers:
We encourage all tetraplegics, wheelchair and hand bike users to join this awesome charity cycling challenge. If you plan to use a hand bike, please fill out this form to let us know before registering for the challenge.
Regain is able to fund a very limited number of places for carers/assistants, so if you require someone to accompany you on the challenge to assist with your daily care, please contact Regain Sports Charity as soon as possible. This person would be expected to cycle with you and assist you during the day, supporting you generally throughout the cycling challenge.
There is only a limited number of places available for tetraplegics to take part. This is due to the limited number of accessible cabins available on the overnight ferry.
Pay your registration fee and your challenge costs yourself and fundraise as much as you can for Regain.

The Regain London to Amsterdam Cycling Challenge is a serious physical challenge, so we strongly recommend that you train hard for it. We'll cycle long distances on both days, especially the first day of the challenge.
Our route is all on road, so you can expect smooth terrain throughout our adventure. We stick to quieter roads wherever possible, but there will be some main road stretches, so you need to be confident cycling in traffic. Once you sign up, we'll send you a training plan, which builds up over time and will set you up for success. Remember, the more you train, the more you'll enjoy the real deal!
This charity challenge is the perfect chance to push yourself and reach your fitness goals. You'll experience two iconic cities, make a group of amazing new friends and most importantly, make a phenomenal difference to the lives of sports tetraplegics across the UK.
Yes please! We encourage wheelchair and hand bike users to join this awesome charity challenge. If you plan to use a hand bike, please fill out this form to let us know before registering for the challenge.
Please don't be! The majority of people will sign up on their own and our Dream Challenges are renowned for their camaraderie. Once you've registered for the challenge, we'll send you a link to a private Facebook group for everyone taking part in the Regain London to Amsterdam Cycling Challenge.
We encourage you to use this space to share tips, advice and updates with your fellow challengers. You can also take this opportunity to organise meet-ups before the challenge, as there might be someone in your local area you can train or fundraise with.
Absolutely not! One of the amazing things about the challenge is that people of all ages will come together to do something very special. Everyone who is at least 18 years old by the challenge departure date is more than welcome to join the ride.
If you know someone under the age of 18 who would like to participate, please get in touch with us to discuss this. Simply email bookings@dream-challenges.com and we'll be happy to help.

Each participant is expected to bring their own bike. As this is a long-distance, on-road cycle, you are advised to use a touring/road bike. If you are planning to use a mountain bike, it is highly recommended to have road tyres fitted.
A cycle helmet is essential and must be worn at all times. Cycling shorts are also recommended and everyone will need their own water bottles or a CamelBak-type hydration system.

You will need a bag to go on your bike or a waist bag for things like your camera, sun cream, tissues etc. Any extra items you may need during the day can be carried on the support vehicle, which you will have access to at the snack stops and lunch.
We’ll stay in comfortable twin-share sleeping cabins on the ferry on the first night. On the night of Day 2, we will have fantastic hotel accommodation in Amsterdam.
Accommodation is included on a twin-sharing basis. However, if you would like to pay for a single supplement and have a room to yourself, simply get in touch and we will be happy to arrange this for you at an additional price.

The training programme builds up gradually as the event gets closer.
We'll also send you regular updates in the lead-up to the challenge with more important details and seasonal fundraising ideas. You will need to take out your own personal travel insurance upon registering for this challenge, covering health, accident, loss and repatriation. We advise that you arrange personal travel insurance as soon as you can after you register to ensure you have coverage for your booking as well as the challenge itself.
Dream Challenges has a provider detailed in your Welcome Pack, which you will receive shortly after booking your challenge, which provides appropriate cover for this type of activity and also covers you for cancellation due to medically-diagnosed COVID-19. You can also call us for details on 01590 646410 during our office hours (9am-5pm, Monday-Friday).
You can, however, take out your own insurance, providing it covers you for a charity cycle in England and the Netherlands.
Please ask the insurer about the nature of the cover. It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate coverage for your challenge.
Currently, British citizens don't need a visa for the Netherlands, but we'll let you know if this changes.
As we're not medically trained, we're afraid we can't offer you advice on this. We recommend you contact your GP or your local travel clinic, who will have the latest travel health advice.
We also recommend you visit the NHS Fit for Travel website here, to keep up to date with current travel health news and advice on staying healthy abroad.
