Get the full flavour of India, cycling from the spicy city of Mumbai, through juicy mango and coconut farms to the sunny, salt-washed beaches of Goa.
This ridiculously beautiful challenge entails five days of cycling through seaside towns, past unusual and colourful temples, rice paddies, mango orchards and lush farms, all the while meeting incredible people and raising money for a charity of your choice.
This adventure may be stunning but it’s no lazy beach holiday. It’ll be life changing in many ways, as you ride through a culture a world apart from our own. You’ll make life-long friendships, achieve your own personal challenge and conquer your fitness goals. You may even master the art of haggling with the local tradesmen!

Cycle Mumbai to Goa 2019 is an Open Challenge, which means you choose how you fund your adventure.
You can self-fund and pay the challenge costs yourself without the pressure of a minimum sponsorship target; or you can choose sponsorship and commit to raising a minimum amount for a charity of your choice. It's your chance to do something amazing for the cause closest to your heart; whether you choose to support your local hospice or a local project or a national charity. It's completely up to you.

After an overnight flight from London Heathrow to Mumbai, we transfer to the gorgeous coastal town of Dapoli, where we check in to our resort near Camp Dapoli, a town once set as camp during the British Raj. Located at an altitude of 240 m and just 5 km from the Arabian Sea, the town is also called "Mini Mahabaleshwar" because of its cool climate throughout the year. Here, we have time to freshen up and relax before our bike fitting. Our first day ends with a welcome dinner and a briefing from our local guides.
We ease ourselves into the challenge with a short day of cycling through the colourful Indian countryside. We enjoy a varying terrain of dense, evergreen forests, tranquil farmland and mango orchards, until we reach Chiplun, a town on the Mumbai-Goa highway, not far from the Sawatsada Waterfalls. We stay overnight in a resort in Chiplun.
Today we enjoy some of the best coastal cycling of the entire challenge. We start the day heading south west towards the coast and pass through some of the unexplored beach towns of Ratnagiri in the Konkan area. where we’re rewarded with breath-taking views of lonely beaches, neat coves, fishing villages, island forts, temples and local markets. We catch a ferry crossing from Tavasal Jetty to Sandlegaon and then continue along the coast until we reach today’s finishing point at the unspoilt beach of Ganpatipule. This small temple town is an idyllic getaway that attracts peace-seekers, beach lovers, and pilgrims alike.
We continue cycling southwards, cross a few rivers and pass through Ratnagiri, the biggest port city in the region and on our route. Pedalling on, we reach our simple hotel, close to the Padavane Ambolgad Beach, which is known for its fine texture sands and clean waters. This region is home to many Hindu temples, visited by Hindu pilgrims and we’re at a short distance from the ruins of a Fortress, built by Marathas during the 19th century.
Today will be the longest day of the challenge. Our route passes through the town of Kunkeshwar, home to several colourful and oddly-shaped temples. We continue along the coast, marvelling at the gorgeous Arabian sea, until we eventually reach our hotel for a well-deserved rest at one of the most beautiful beaches in Malvan.
This is the last day of our cycling challenge. We make our way along the undulating coast, passing the palm-lined beaches of Vengurla, to Terekhol River. The river is surrounded by lush vegetation and marks the border between Maharashtra and Goa. Upon reaching Goa, we ride to our final destination Morjim beach in North Goa. This beach sits at the mouth of Chaopra River, famous for the nesting and hatching habitat of the endangered Olive Ridley sea turtle. From here, we transfer to our resort near the beach for our celebratory dinner and a rest, having completed a truly amazing challenge.
Today is a free day for you to relax at the hotel, at the beach or explore Goa and haggle for some souvenirs, all the while reflecting on the wonderful challenge you’ve just accomplished.
This morning, we catch a transfer to Goa airport for an internal flight to Mumbai. Time permitting, we have an optional tour of Mumbai and a chance to explore the city independently, before dinner and an overnight stay in Mumbai.
Today, we catch our flights from Mumbai airport back to the UK.

This challenge is not designed for Olympic athletes – it is designed for people looking for an amazing goal to train and get fit for. A number of the people who will take part on this challenge will have little or no fitness level when they sign up. This challenge is the perfect motivation to get fit, lose weight and have an experience of a lifetime. The most challenging aspect of this adventure will probably be the humidity. We also recommend that you incorporate hills into your training rides as the route is almost entirely undulating hills with some steep but short climbs, followed by winding downhills. You will pleased to know the route is almost all on tarmac, though, so it'll be smooth riding.
Please don't be! The majority of people will sign up on their own. Once the event is fully booked we will send you a contact list of everyone registered for the challenge, as often there will be someone in your local area you can meet up to train or fundraise with.
Absolutely not! One of the amazing things about the challenge is that people of all ages will come together to do something very special. The age range is likely to be from 18 to 75.
A cycling helmet is essential. Cycling shorts are also recommended and everyone will need their own water bottles or a Camelbak-type hydration system. Apart from that no specialist equipment is required. We will supply you with a list of everything you will need to take before you go. Cyclists will have the use of 18 or 21-gear bikes and it is suggested that you bring the saddle or gel cover you are used to riding on.
Throughout this exciting challenge, we mostly stay in hotels, but we camp in a little seaside town on one night. On most nights, if not all, you'll be sharing a room with one other participant (of the same sex). Twin beds are unusual and rare in the coastal region of Maharashtra and so in many hotels there will be double beds with something to divide down the middle and separate bedding. Yes of course! If you wish to extend your stay you will need to come out of our group flights (and of course we would deduct the cost from your balance).
In addition to paying your registration fee you will need to budget for your airport taxes and the fuel surcharge, personal travel insurance, visa, gratuities, optional tours and personal expenses.
You will need to take out your own personal travel insurance covering health, accident, loss and repatriation. Dream Challenges has a recommended policy, which we will send you details of. You can however take out your own insurance providing it covers you for a charity cycle ride in India. You will be required to obtain a tourist visa for entry into India, we will send you all the relevant information about how to do this before the challenge.
